Who are the Polka Pigs?
The Polka Pigs, based in Canberra is an accomplished band comprised typically of four highly trained and professional musicians. The types of music that is covered by this premier ensemble is immense. The repertoire covers many areas such as Traditional Australian Bush Music, Australiana, Contemporary and Popular Ballads, Irish Music, Folk, MOTR, Country and Rock.
All musicians in the band are multi-instrumental producing a wide vast selection of soundscapes. The accopmlished musicians can play all manner of plucked, bowed struck instruments including Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo, Violin, Flute, Harmonica, Percussion, Saxophone, Tin Whistle, Keyboards, Lagerphone and Melodica. All members contribute to the rich and thick vocal sounds as required.
When performing at a typical Bush Dance the audience is taught all the steps by our acclaimed caller Ian Polkapig. They can perform as a CONCERT BAND or provide more intimate ROVING MUSIC using the best quality acoustic instruments available. The Polka Pigs always get the audience involved in their entertaining performance.
